Who we are
The Fitzroy Learning Network is a community-based Neighbourhood House that welcomes people from diverse educational, cultural and social backgrounds.

We provide education, English language skills, job interview skills, computer skills and basic life skills particularly for newcomers to our community.

Since August 2000, Fitzroy Learning Network has been a lead agency in supporting Temporary Protection Visa holders released from Immigration Detention Centres. The Network has well developed links with other organisations who work toward the same ideals; FLN responds to each wave of new arrivals in Melbourne, often being the first port of call for ESL lessons, information, advocacy and support. The most recent group is the African community particularly those from the Sudan

We made a difference to their lives, now they are making a difference to ours

While we get great support from the Victorian Government, Yarra Council and Philanthropic Trusts, we couldn't do what we do without community support, volunteers and donations.

Many of the people we work with are not entitled to government-funded settlement services. Without our help they would be left to fend for themselves on the streets of Melbourne with only a handful of dollars -- not knowing where to go to get accommodation, health services, how to find a job.

Please help us build a stronger community by making a donation. You can arrange for a regular donation or authorise a direct debit from your bank account by going online here:
How to volunteer
We would not be able to achieve the all things we do without the support of our committed volunteers who help with each of our programs. An extensive volunteer program with over 150 volunteers currently involved in all aspects of the Network.

Our programs include: Adult Education, English as a Second Language, Computer Courses, Sewing Classes, Over 55's Program, The Computer Clubhouse and Refugee Support

Computer Clubhouse
After school the Network is transformed into the Fitzroy Computer Clubhouse by an influx of excited and chattering kids aged 8-18 who turn our computer lab into a "design studio" using professional, state of the art software. The program is facilitated by the Clubhouse coordinator and supported by volunteer mentors from the IT industry and IT tertiary courses.

We support the rights of the child and will act without hesitation to ensure a child safe environment is maintained at all times. In accordance with ACCYO requirements we have recently developed a Child Protection Policy. Please click here to read it.
